Create F5 LTM VIP – iRule

This workflow generates the F5 LTM iRule.

To run this workflow:

  1. Go to Menu > ADC+ > AUTOMATION > Workflow Catalog > View/Run
  2. Click the F5 BIG-IP LTM category on the View/Run Workflows page.
  3. On the popup window, hover the mouse over the Create F5 LTM VIP – Basic workflow.
    The Run and Schedule buttons are displayed.
  4. Click .
    The Request > Create F5 LTM VIP iRule :: FormBuilder page is displayed.
  5. Enter/select Create LTM IRule details.

    Field Description
    *Datacenter Displays the datacenter list for devices created in the Device Inventory. Select the relevant datacenter from the drop-down menu to associate with the device for this request. If a device has been created in the Device Inventory without a specified datacenter, select None as the datacenter.
    *Device Name Displays a list of devices linked to the selected datacenter. If the datacenter is set as None, it lists devices created without specific datacenter details. Select the desired device from the available drop-down options.
    *IRule Name Enter the name assigned to an iRule in F5 Networks' BIG-IP LTM.
    *IRule Content Enter the content or script written within an iRule.
  6. Click Submit.
    The Confirmation dialog box is displayed.
    Note:
    • If you want to save this form and edit it later, click Save Draft, and then click Ok in the Confirmation popup window. The form will be saved as Open request under Request > My Request.
    • If you want to cancel this form, click Cancel.
  7. Click OK to submit the form.
    The validation starts automatically and reaches the Review stage.
    Note:
    • If there is any failure at this stage, start a new request by providing the correct data.
    • Alternatively, select the failed request and clone it. Update the correct input data in the form input, and submit the workflow again.
  8. Review the input data under the implementation, rollback, and postvalidation tabs:
  9. After the review, click Submit.
    The Confirmation dialog box is displayed.
    Note: To stop running the workflow creation, click Cancel.
  10. Click OK to continue the workflow creation.
    Note: It takes a while to complete the request.
    The workflow is created.
    Note: The stages of the request are shown on the left of the screen. To view a specific stage of the request, click on the corresponding stage.
