Disable and Delete Unused WIP-State|Status

This workflow identifies and decommissions unused F5 GTM WideIPs (WIPs) based on the state or status. The process includes selecting the appropriate devices, identifying WIPs that have been unused for a specified duration, disabling those WideIPs, and decommissioning the associated virtual servers.

To run this workflow:
  1. Go to Menu > ADC+ > AUTOMATION > Workflow Catalog > View/Run
  2. Click the F5 BIG-IP GTM category on the View/Run Workflows page.
  3. On the popup window, hover the mouse over the Disable and Delete Unused WIP-State|Status workflow.
    The Run and Schedule buttons are displayed.
  4. Click .
    The Request > Disable and Delete Unused WIP-State|Status :: FormBuilder page is displayed.
  5. For the WIPs to be identified, enter/select the Device Details.

    Field Description
    Datacenter Displays the list of datacenters of the devices, which are created in the Device Inventory. Select the datacenter of a device from the drop-down option for which this request is to be created. For the devices which are created without a datacenter in the Device Inventory, select the datacenter as None.
    *Device Name Displays the list of devices associated with the selected datacenter. If the datacenter is selected as None, the devices that are created without datacenter details are listed. Select the desired device from the drop-down option.
    *No of Days Enter the number of days for which the WIPs have been unused.
    A WIP is considered Unused if any of the following conditions are met:
    • The WideIP Status is OFFLINE and the State is ENABLED.
    • The WideIP Status is OFFLINE and the State is DISABLED.
    • The WideIP Status is UNKNOWN and the State is DISABLED.
    • The WideIP Status is AVAILABLE and the State is DISABLED.

  6. For the WIPs to be disabled or deleted based on the state or status, select the Actions and Metrics.

    *Action on WIPs Select one of the following actions to be performed on the WIPs identified:
    • Disable (default) - Disables the WIPs identified as unused based on the specified duration
    • Disable and Delete - Disables the identified unused WIPs and then deletes them.
    • Disable Monitor and Delete - Disables the identified unused WIPs, monitors them, and then deletes them, if they remain unused within the monitoring period. If you choose this option, provide the monitoring period in the Monitoring Period field. Enter a period within the range of 1 to 31 days.
    *Unused WIP Metrics The options are:
    • Status (default) - Status of the WIP to be considered as unused.
    • State/Status - State and status of the WIP to be considered as unused.

  7. Enter/select the Change Management details.

    *Do you want to integrate ServiceNow?

    By default, the No option is selected. If you want to integrate with ServiceNow, select Yes and provide the following details:

    • Timezone – retrieve and select the timezone from the drop-down list.
    • Start Time – select the start date and time from the calendar.
    • End Time – select the end date and time from the calendar.

  8. Click Submit.
    The validation starts automatically and reaches the Review stage.
  9. To save this form so you can edit it later, click Save Draft and then click OK.
    The form will be saved as Open request under Request > My Request.

    To submit the form, click OK.

    Note:
    • If there is any failure at this stage, start a new request by providing the correct data.
    • Alternatively, select the failed request and clone it. Update the correct input data in the form input, and submit the workflow again.
  10. Review the input data under the implementation, rollback, and postvalidation tabs.
  11. After the review, click Submit.
    The Confirmation dialog box is displayed.
    Note: To stop running the workflow creation, click Cancel.
  12. Click Ok to continue the workflow creation.
    It takes a while to complete the request.

    The workflow is created and the email is triggered to the configured email IDs.

    Note: The stages of the request are shown in the left side of the screen. To view a particular stage of the request, click the respective stage.
