Configuring Certificate Attributes

Certificate Attributes are a way of creating additional placeholder fields which can be used to track a certificate. An administrator can create one or more fields that a requester enrolling a certificate can fill and use for future tracking.

Prerequisites for Creating and Configuring Certificate Attributes

The prerequisites for configuration the certificate attributes are as follows:
  • Certificate attributes are CA or organization-specific attributes, apart from the CSR parameters.

    Once configured, these attributes will be shown to collect values during certificate enrollment.

    Business unit-specific parameters can be stored for quick filtering and auditing.

Understanding the Certificate Attributes Inventory

To view the certificate attributes inventory, go to (Menu) > CERT+ > ADMINISTRATION > Certificate Attributes.
The Certificate Attributes page is displayed.
For the certificate attributes added, the inventory displays the following details:

Fields Description
Label Name Attribute name that will be displayed in the certificate enrollment form
Key ID Unique identifier key assigned to the attribute
Mandatory Indicates if the attribute is a mandatory field
Expiry Configuration Associated
Actions Given below is a description of what each icon in the Actions field stands for:
  • : This indicates the certificate attribute will not be displayed on the certificate enrollment page. This is only an indicative icon and not clickable.
  • : This indicates the certificate attribute will be displayed on the certificate enrollment page. This is only an indicative icon and not clickable.
  • : To edit the details of a certificate attribute, click this icon.
  • : To delete a certificate attribute, click this icon.

Creating Certificate Attributes

  1. Go to (Menu) > CERT+ > ADMINISTRATION > Certificate Attributes.
    The Certificate Attributes page is displayed.
  2. From the Certificate Attributes section, click Add New.
    The Certificate Attributes dialog box is displayed.
  3. For the attribute to be added, enter/select the corresponding details.

    Fields Description
    *Label Name Attribute name which will be shown during certificate enrollment. E.g. Email Contact, Owner.

    Label name should not start with special characters. No special characters except -, _ and spaces are allowed.

    *Key ID Unique key for the attribute.

    Key ID must not start with special characters. No special characters except -, _ are allowed.

    Important: Once specified, the Key ID cannot be updated.
    Field Type From the dropdown list, from the following options, select the input field type:
    • Text
    • Dropdown
    • Date
    Mandatory Enable if this field needs to be mandatory.
    Default Value This field is displayed when Field Type = Text.

    Enter the default text that will be pre-populated in the text field.

    *Default Value(s) This field is displayed when Field Type = Dropdown.

    Enter a comma-separated list of values that will be displayed in the dropdown list.

    Default Date This field is displayed when Field Type = Date.

    Use the calendar widget () to select the default date and time values that will be displayed for the field.

    Show in Enrollment Form To show this attribute in the Certificate Attributes section of the certificate enrollment form, turn on this toggle button.
  4. Click Save.
    The attribute is listed in the Certificate Attributes inventory (explained here). The attributes can b displayed on the certificate enrollment page as well as in the certificate inventory.

Modifying Certificate Attributes

To edit the details of a certificate attribute:
  1. Go to (Menu) > CERT+ > ADMINISTRATION > Certificate Attributes.
    The Certificate Attributes page is displayed.
  2. From the certificate attributes inventory, for the required attribute, from the Actions column, click .
    The Certificate Attributes dialog box is displayed with the existing certificate attribute details.
  3. Modify the details, as required, and click Update.
    Important: The Key ID field is disabled for editing.

Deleting Certificate Attributes

To delete a certificate attribute:
  1. Go to (Menu) > CERT+ > ADMINISTRATION > Certificate Attributes.
    The Certificate Attributes page is displayed.
  2. From the certificate attributes inventory, for the required attribute, from the Actions column, click .
    The Certificate Attributes dialog box is displayed with the message Do you want to delete the certificate attribute?
  3. Click Delete.
