Device Settings

You can use this page to define default configuration parameters and behavior for different device types (servers, appliances, etc.) before you onboard them into the system. These settings then apply automatically when you add or manage devices, helping standardize certificate discovery, push and management actions.

To enable device settings:

  1. Go to (Menu) > CERT+ > ADMINISTRATION > General Settings > Device Settings
The Device Settings page is displayed.
  2. From the options listed in the left menu, select Device Settings.
  3. Enter the following details:
    Field Description
    * F5 Communication Mode Select either iControl REST or iControl SOAP.

Select iControl REST (recommended) as it is the more secure mode of communication for F5 devices. It avoids vulnerabilities found in legacy iControl SOAP based communication. AppViewX uses iControl REST APIs for all supported BIG-IP versions.

Note: If the connected device is running F5 BIG-IP v12 or below, iControl REST is not supported, and the system will automatically fall back to iControl SOAP.
    * Allow chmod on ACL failure By default, option is set to Yes. When enabled, AppViewX will apply a chmod 777 fallback if ACL (Access Control List) updates fail for the temporary transactional folder created during Linux SSH operations.

If disabled, no fallback will be applied and the operation will fail if the required ACL permissions cannot be set.

Note: Currently, this field is available for:
