Delete NginxPlus LB Server with DNS
This workflow enables you to delete an HTTP or TCP load balancing server and its associated upstream servers from an existing NGINX configuration, and automatically remove or clean up the corresponding DNS record in Infoblox.
- User Privileges: The NGINX device user account configured in AppViewX must have superuser (root) privileges with full access to the NGINX file system and configuration paths.
- DNS Integration: The DNS provider (Infoblox) and target DNS devices must be configured and available in the AppViewX Device Inventory.
- Go to Menu > ADC > AUTOMATION > Workflow Catalog > View/Run.
- Click the Nginx Plus category on the View/Run Workflows page.

On the pop-up window, hover over the Delete NginxPlus LB Server with DNS workflow.
The Run and Schedule buttons are displayed.

Click Run.
The Request > Delete NginxPlus LB Server with DNS :: FormBuilder page is displayed.

Enter or select the required field information in the Device Details section.
Table 1. Device Details Section - Field and Description Table Field Description *Data Center Displays the list of datacenters of the devices created in the Device Inventory. Select the datacenter of a device from the drop-down list. For devices added without a datacenter in the Device Inventory, select None. *Device Name Displays the list of devices associated with the selected datacenter. If the datacenter is selected as None, devices created without datacenter details are listed. Select the desired device from the drop-down list. *Nginx Source Path Enter or select the absolute path of the existing NGINX source configuration file from which the load balancing server is to be deleted. -
Enter or select the field information in the LB Server and UpStream section.

- HTTP – (Selecting HTTP enables the DNS record section when associated with a virtual server).
- TCP – (DNS record deletion is not supported for TCP).
*Delete Preference Select the deletion preference from the drop-down list (for example, Upstream Server and Virtual Server, or Virtual Server). Fetch LB server IP and Port Click this button to discover and retrieve the configured load balancing server IP addresses and port numbers from the selected NGINX source configuration path. *LB server IP and Port Select the IP address and port number of the load balancing server you want to delete from the retrieved list. -
Enter or select the field information in the DNS section.
Note: The DNS section is displayed only when Load Balancing Type is selected as HTTP and a DNS record is associated with the selected virtual server.
Table 3. DNS Section - Field and Description Table Field Description *Vendor Select the DNS vendor from the drop-down list (for example, Infoblox). Note: Currently, Infoblox is supported for automated DNS record lifecycle management.
*DNS Device Select the target DNS device configured in Device Inventory where the associated DNS record resides. *Network View Select the network view associated with the selected DNS device. *DNS View Select the DNS view from the drop-down list. *Authoritative Zone / FQDN Select the authoritative DNS zone or fully qualified domain name (FQDN) corresponding to the LB server to be removed. Note: AppViewX locates and deletes the matching DNS host/A record in Infoblox during workflow execution.

Click the Submit button.
The Confirmation pop-up window opens.Note:
- To save this form as a draft to edit later, click Save Draft, and then click OK in the Confirmation pop-up window. The form is saved under Request > My Request.
- To cancel the form, click Cancel.

Click OK to submit the form.
The validation starts automatically and advances to the Diff Checker stage.

In the Diff Checker stage, click the
<<Compare>>button to view the configuration updates, and then click the<<Execute>>(or<<Submit>>) button.The workflow advances to the Backup Chosen Config stage. -
In the Backup Chosen Config stage, click the
<<Submit>>button.The workflow advances to the NGINX Config Check stage. -
In the NGINX Config Check stage, click the
<<Execute>>button.The workflow advances to the NGINX Config Reload stage. -
In the NGINX Config Reload stage, click the
<<Execute>>button.The workflow advances to the NGINX Status Check stage. -
In the NGINX Status Check stage, click the
<<Submit>>button.The workflow advances to the Delete Backup of Chosen Config stage. -
In the Delete Backup of Chosen Config stage, click the
<<Execute>>button.The workflow advances to the DNS Record Deletion stage. -
In the DNS Record Deletion stage, click the
<<Approve>>/<<Execute>>button to trigger the automated removal of the DNS record in Infoblox.The DNS record associated with the deleted load balancing server is deleted from Infoblox. - The workflow completes successfully.
Note: The stages of the request are displayed on the left side of the screen. To view a specific stage of the request, click the respective stage name.
